I’ve been writing so much lately. For awhile there I actually got a little overexcited and was going to start a bunch of new projects. Like if I was going to list them off on my fingers I’d need both hands. Fortunately, I was able to talk myself down from that.
I did condense an idea for a book and an idea for a webcomic into a new blog, thinking I don’t have the kind of experience or skill or personality to write a book. I’m a blogger! Then the next day I woke up and I’d been thinking about maybe turning the blog into a book later if it went well and instead I figured…why not just go for it? So I’m writing a book now. I have a tentative outline for 8 chapters that I need to fine-tune, up next I look into publishing options and what goes into trying to shop it around.
But I’m definitely writing it. If it doesn’t turn out to be something someone else wants to publish, I still want to write it and put it out myself. So looking into those options too.
I also started a side blog for silly quick reviews of things that don’t really belong here but that I want to talk about anyway. That’s partly because I wanted something more low-key so I could still write daily when I don’t have a lot of energy and mostly because I found out there’s a blogging platform where you post directly from Evernote and that’s cool so I had to try it. I love new things.
I put the leftover “must-write-always” energy into looking for blog challenges rather than actually starting another completely new thing. There’s one that’s based around blogging daily and sharing your posts. I like the idea of that, but it seems so…inorganic. So I haven’t decided if I’ll sign up officially yet or just be inspired by it to blog more often and then actually share on my social sites. That second part is a lot harder than the first.
But either way it will mean I’m posting more here. If not daily then at least 2-3 times a week. I was able to make a list of 31 posts I think I could make over the next month. They would be easy if I just sat down and blogged without too much planning. But I also got the free trial of Scrivener and I’ve been using it to write drafts ahead of time and actually organize things, and that takes a lot longer. So if it’s a choice between quality and quantity I’ll take quality and not bother with daily posts. I kind of like the idea of being more coherent and having the final post match what I see in my head. I don’t want to lose that.
In other news, I’m back on Twitter now! Yay! The last time I tried it I really didn’t get or like it, but I wanted to give it another shot and I’m glad I did. Much more fun now. So I added the feed to the sidebar over there, but I’ll also post the link here.
